GROWING UP
As a child, head gunsmith Steve Johnston was raised on the farm that now makes up Agritopia, an urban agricultural development in Gilbert, Arizona. The quonset hut on the property served as a storage barn. For Steve, it provided the perfect setting for an indoor shooting range. Overhead lights became easy targets as he aimed his BB gun above, and with impressive accuracy took out some of the bulbs, leaving just enough unscathed so his dad would not grow suspicious.

The aluminum-framed quonset hut no longer serves as a storage facility, but as a space for makers and craftsmen. For Steve, going to work is like coming home.
